Mesa Verde National Park is located in Southwestern Colorado in what is known as the “Four Corners” area, which is where the borders of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah meet. The closest towns are Mancos and Cortez, and the park is located about 1.5 hours from Durango, Colorado.

Mesa Verde National Park welcomes over 500,000 park visitors per year. The park was established before the National Park Service itself and was created by an Act of Congress in 1906. Created with the specific intention to “protect the works of man,” it was the first archaeological area in the world to be recognized and protected in this way. Mesa Verde National Park is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are over 600 cliff dwellings and thousands of archaeological sites in the park.

Mesa Verde offers a location close to many iconic locations in the West. Arches National Park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument, Canyonlands National Park and Canyon de Chelly National Monument are each located about a 3 hour drive from the park.

Working here offers the opportunity to work and travel in one of the most beautiful places in the United States. While the park is open year round, most of the services we provide are seasonal. Spring and fall are mild. Summer in this corner of Colorado is warm and sunny with the occasional thunderstorm.

Working at Mesa Verde offers excellent access to outdoor recreation activities. During your down time, enjoy convenient access to park tours, hiking, fly fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding and more
